Justice
Let justice be done
When prejudice strikes.
In the heat of the south
Let no lie impede.
Let justice be done
And may the truth succeed.
Let justice be done
Whether white or black.
Let justice not be determined
By the color of your skin.
May the accused find justice
In a fair and equal trial.
Let justice be done
And let it be final.
I chose to write my poem about justice because Tom didn't get any justice. Atticus defended him to the best of his ability but the jury didn't find him innocent. Justice was lacking for Tom because he was an uneducated African American in the south during the 1930's. Tom's trial was not fair because the whole jury was white and his sentence was determined by the color of his skin.
